Metal Marionettes Introduction

Metal Marionettes Introduction

Since this was the inception piece of the Metal Marionettes, it pre-dates all of the subsequent pieces. That being said, it's a strong contender for the organic-to-inorganic aesthetic that I'm ultimately going for.

"Your Lawyer is In"

"Your Lawyer is In"

As a test to myself, I decided it was high-time to get back into the ink game. This is the initial piece that started a sort of renaissance with my ink drawings that is still continuing on as we speak!

"Man-O-Wire"

"Man-O-Wire"

Upon release of my newfound love for ink drawing came a slough of more and more elaborate cyberpunk ink pieces. All of these are a testament to the start of my comic inking.

"Under the Skin"

"Under the Skin"

When the power goes out and you have nothing left but ink pens and a flashlight to draw by, you tend to start getting a little crazed. Another prequel drawing to the larger body of cyber girls that has surfaced as of late.

See the CyberGirls series in the digital section for more details.

Samurai Unicorn, Page 5

Samurai Unicorn, Page 5

During the entire month of June I was challenged to two different archetypes - robots and unicorns. Initially I had no clue how to approach both subjects in tandem, so I looked over at my fiancee and she simply shrugged and said, "Do both."
It was in that instant that the Samurai Unicorn book was born.

Fan Art: DC's Death, from Sandman

Fan Art: DC's Death, from Sandman

My take on Death, the Endless, from DC's Sandman.

When I first read Sandman, I was instantly intrigued by the portrayal of Death. I decided to put my own spin on the character.

Fan Art: Revenant from DOOM

Fan Art: Revenant from DOOM

I think I speak for quite a few folks when I say that DOOM is an amazing franchise. I've always been intrigued with this over-the-top enemy, and so I thought I would do him some justice.

That being said though, it couldn't be a direct variant of it - I had to at least change the colors to be a synthwave palette.

Fan Art: Opie Winston from Sons of Anarchy

Fan Art: Opie Winston from Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy is an amazing show in itself.

I thought I should do justice to an under appreciated character of the canon lineup - Opie Winston.

This is my go at a mixed media piece, all the line work was done entirely in pencil, and then scanned with digital 'inks and paints' laid over the top.

Fan Art: Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones

Fan Art: Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones

Ahh, Tyrion. He's probably my second favorite character, and who might be the wisest of the lot of them. It's strange how I feel as though he's under-utilized and under appreciated.

That being said, I had to a painting of him! Even if it initially started as a light experientation...

Fan Art: Widowmaker from Overwatch

Fan Art: Widowmaker from Overwatch

I must confess... I've never actually played much by way of Overwatch. I've never really been much into competitive gaming as a whole. But I can't deny the character designs of the entire lineup for this game.

Blizzard has a way with characters that I always find intriguing. Widowmaker is up there with one of my favorites from the series so far.

Fan Art: Darryl from Walking Dead

Fan Art: Darryl from Walking Dead

The entire concept of zombies is always one that I will debate up and down, but I think that Walking Dead is going pretty solidly.

That being said, of course I had to do a painting of Darryl.

Fan Art: Jessica Jones

Fan Art: Jessica Jones

Out of all the Marvel shows that have come to Netflix, I think that Jessica Jones might still be my favorite. I will admit, I was skeptical at first. Not because of a female lead or anything like that, moreso that I felt like we'd been burned quite a bit by many other comic-related media lately.

Boy was I surprised when Jessica Jones walked onto that media stage. This show is the epitome of incredible work to me. Great story, great - albeit flawed - characters, even great choices for the actors themselves.

Either way, I had to approach it myself to see what I could do in the comic vein.

Alright, I'll admit it... I have a soft spot for musicals.

Now that that's out of the way, I have to say, I wasn't expecting this movie at all. It came out of left field as a preview on a SAW movie that Ashley and I were watching at the time.

We were hooked by the first opening line.

Add in the fact that it's a cybergoth, industrial metal musical even featuring OGRE from Skinny Puppy?! I was in bliss!

I highly recommend this one to anyone that is a horror and musical fan, especially if you enjoy cyberpunk and metal!
